The Gauteng High Court in Pretoria has set aside president Cyril Ramaphosa's decision to recognise MisiZulu as Zulu King. The court found that Ramaphosa's decision was unlawful and invalid.

AmaZulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini called for calm within his family and the Zulu nation at large following a Gauteng High Court ruling which invalidated his recognition by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

On Monday, Judge Norman Davis ordered Ramaphosa to set up an investigative committee to look into the allegations that King Misuzulu was not identified for his position, in line with customary laws and customs.

Davis' ruling followed a court application by the AmaZulu monarch's half-brother, Simakade kaZwelithini, and his uncle, Mbonisi kaBhekuzulu.
