The labour court has dismissed an application by former National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) CEO Andile Nongogo to be reinstated.

Nongogo was fired last year after "irregular involvement in the appointment of direct payment service providers", the scheme said.

The service providers were four companies contracted to pay students directly, which received hefty fees – more than R12 per student per month.
