A 20-year-old Limpopo school pupil is to appear in the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court for allegedly pouring boiling water on a teenager she accused of sexually assaulting her.
The incident occurred just over a week ago, while pupils were camping at a school in preparation for their final examinations, according to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.
A case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm has been opened against her.
Ledwaba said that, according to preliminary reports, the 19-year-old was sleeping inside one of the classrooms when a female pupil approached him and accused him of touching her private parts.
“The complainant reportedly denied the allegations, and the suspect initially left but later returned and poured boiling water on him,” said Ledwaba.
“The victim sustained burn injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment.”
The 20-year-old woman was arrested on Friday.
News24 was unable to establish what transpired with the sexual assault allegation.
