His fingertips and private parts were cut off.
In late September, police from the provincial and national psychology investigation units tracked Nkosinathi Ziyanda Khumalo down to Estcourt, KwaZulu-Natal, and arrested him for the crime.

Khumalo initially appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on 31 October, on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
He was then transferred to North West province, where he made his first appearance for Buthelezi’s murder in the Mogwase Magistrate’s Court on 3 November.
He is expected to apply for bail in the same court on 24 November.
Mokgwabone confirmed that further investigations into Buthelezi’s murder were continuing.
