A 54-year-old man was taken into custody on Monday after shooting his 45-year-old wife dead during a church service in Makonde Shadani village, Limpopo, on Saturday evening.

"Reportedly, the suspect entered the premises while the congregation was engaged in worship and callously fired multiple shots at the victim, resulting in her untimely death," Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said.

He then got into a silver-grey Toyota Corolla and fled.
