National police commissioner General Fannie Masemola has deployed additional Public Order Policing officers to KwaZulu-Natal amid concerns about civil unrest over the election results.

The police have yet to announce how many additional officers have been deployed.

Masemola said at the deployment parade in Harrismith on Tuesday night it was unclear how long they would be needed in the province.
