Abdu-Raghmaan Arendse, Saeed Abrahams and Junaid Herman with their attorney Junaid Jumat
The court case against three men who were arrested at Sea Point in Cape Town on Sunday during a pro-Israel protest was not put on the roll at the Cape Town Magistrate's Court on Monday as expected.
Junaid Jumat, the attorney for Saeed Abrahams, Junaid Herman and Abdur-Raghmaan Arendse, said they faced charges of public violence.
Arendse was pictured being dragged away by police during a confrontation which arose when pro-Palestine supporters descended on a pro-Israel prayer gathering at the busy beachfront location.
He was filmed being pulled between police officers who were trying to put him in a van while several people tried to wrest him away so he would not be detained.
The scene escalated to such a point that authorities released stun grenades and sprayed the crowds with jets of water.
Jumat said the three men were free to go and would be exercising their right to silence.
