After a two-week break for recess, the trial of Nafiz Modack and 14 others for allegedly being part of a sprawling and murderous racketeering enterprise resumed in the Western Cape High Court on Tuesday with the cross-examination of the State's star witness – the hitman known as Mr A.
Mr A is serving time after taking a plea and sentencing deal for murdering Nicolaas Heerschap, the father of Hawks policeman Nico Heerschap, who was investigating Modack.
Heerschap resigned from the Hawks after his father was killed.
