The South African Weather Service has warned of disruptive rain that may result in flooding in the Eastern Cape and severe thunderstorms for KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, Gauteng, the Free State, North West and Northern Cape.
Impact-based warnings
Orange Warning Level 6: Disruptive rainfall expected along the coast and adjacent interior between Port Alfred and Richards Bay.
This may result in the flooding of roads and settlements, damage to infrastructure and mud-based houses, and major disruption of traffic flow due to major roads being flooded or closed.
Yellow Warning Level 4: Severe thunderstorms are expected over most parts of KwaZulu-Natal, the south-western parts of Mpumalanga, Gauteng, Free State, North West, and extreme north-eastern parts of Northern Cape.
This may lead to damage to structures due to hail and wind, damage or loss of infrastructure, settlements (formal and informal), property, vehicles, livelihood, and livestock.

Yellow Warning Level 4: Disruptive rain leading to localised flooding of settlements, roads, and damage to property and infrastructure are expected for the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro as well as the Kouga, Sundays River Valley, Makana, Ndlambe, and Raymond Mhlaba local municipalities in the Eastern Cape.
