The South African Weather Service warned of extremely high fire danger conditions in several parts of five provinces. 

Fire danger warnings

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places in the Free State, the central parts of the Northern Cape, the southern parts of the North West, the western parts of KZN as well as the north-western parts of the Eastern Cape.

Gauteng will be fine and warm, but hot in the extreme north.

The expected UVB sunburn index is high.

Fine and warm conditions are forecast for Mpumalanga, but it will be hot in the Lowveld.

Limpopo can expect fine and warm to hot conditions - and so, too, the North West.

Free State will be fine and warm.

It will be cloudy, with fog patches along the coast in the morning, in the Northern Cape, otherwise fine and warm to hot.

The wind along the coast will be light to moderate southerly.

Western Cape will be cloudy, with fog patches along the coast in the morning, otherwise fine and warm.

It will be partly cloudy, with morning showers and thundershowers, in the north-eastern interior.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh westerly to south-westerly along the south coast, otherwise moderate to fresh northerly to north-westerly, becoming moderate southerly north of Cape Columbine from evening.

The western half of the Eastern Cape will be partly cloudy and cool, but warm in the north.

Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected, but scattered along the coast and adjacent interior.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.

The eastern half of the province will be partly cloudy and cool, but warm in the north.

Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected, but scattered along the coast and adjacent interior.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly, becoming south-westerly in the afternoon.

KwaZulu-Natal will be partly cloudy and warm to hot, with isolated showers and rain in the south-east.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to north-easterly, becoming southerly to south-westerly south of Richards Bay from the afternoon, spreading to Kosi Bay by the evening.
