Severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, damaging winds and excessive lightning are expected in parts of Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, the North West and Free State on Monday, which could cause flooding and damage to infrastructure and settlements, while the South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a heatwave warning for parts of the Eastern Cape until Wednesday.

Yellow Level 2 warning: Severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours, damaging winds, excessive lightning, and hail are expected in Gauteng, the Highveld and escarpment of Mpumalanga, southern-western Limpopo, and the eastern parts of the North West and Free State.
