Severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and heavy downpours have been forecast in the Eastern Cape and Western Cape, according to the South African Weather Service.

Impact-based warnings:

A yellow level 2 for severe thunderstorms with damaging winds, heavy downpours and hail resulting in localised damage to property is expected in places over the eastern and central parts of the Eastern Cape.

A yellow level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms resulting in flooding and large amounts of small hail is expected over the Cape Winelands and Overberg districts in the Western Cape.

Fire danger warnings:

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Ramotshere Moiloa Municipality in the North West and Matjhabeng Municipality in the Free State.

The wind along the coast will be moderate north-easterly, becoming strong in the afternoon.

There will be morning fog patches in places over the interior of KwaZulu-Natal, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot but very hot in places in the north-east.

Scattered showers and thundershowers are expected in the south, otherwise isolated except in the north-east.
