Excited boys and girls lined up at the Khumbulani Health, Education and Resource Centre in Khayelitsha on Thursday to welcome a team of Media24 staffers who brought them much-needed donations in partnership with the Gift of the Givers Foundation.
Among the donated items were baby camp cots, mattresses, kitchenware, stationery, educational toys and gazebos to protect children from the sun during outdoor activities. Heavy-duty pots, which will enable the centre to prepare meals for the 300 children there, including those in the aftercare facility, were included in the kitchenware.
The early childhood development (ECD) centre has been at the forefront of the fight to lift the stigma around HIV/Aids.
