The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has been forced to make drastic cuts after the national government slashed millions from its grants.

Education MEC David Maynier was delivering his department's adjustment budget on Friday afternoon in the Western Cape legislature. 

Maynier said the national government has cut the department's budget by R716.4 million.
