News24's month-long On The Road national elections tour has come to an end. Countless on and off the record conversations were had. Some along dodgy train tracks, overlooking heaps of rubbish near the border of Eswatini and South Africa. Throughout all the conversations, one prevailing theme emerged: South Africans demonstrate unwavering commitment to their villages, towns, cities, and country, writes Siyamtanda Capa.

When it rains, it pours - this adage comes to life in Komani every time a cloud bursts, unleashing flash floods that mercilessly batter shacks, leaving a trail of havoc in its wake.

This reality became palpable to the rest of the News24 On The Road team and I during our visit to the area one rainy Sunday.

South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future. News24 has kept the country informed for 25 years, and we're about to enter a new chapter of fearless journalism.
