The three men were arrested by KwaZulu-Natal police on Saturday afternoon.

KwaZulu-Natal police have arrested three men who claim to be from Cape Town at a lodge on Quarry Road West in Sydenham on Saturday afternoon after residents tipped off police about a suspected hijacked vehicle in the area.

Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said when police arrived at the lodge, they found the men inside a room with four firearms, nine loaded magazines, eight bullet-resistant vests, and an empty rifle bag.  There were two vehicles.

"One [vehicle] was reported hijacked in Sydenham a fortnight ago, while the other [one] was hijacked in Newlands recently. The suspects, who claimed to be from Delft in Cape Town, were arrested, and investigations into their possible mission are underway," said Netshiunda.
