The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is investigating reports of police officers allegedly assaulting pupils at Rakoko Secondary in Mabeskraal village, on the outskirts of Rustenburg, last Monday.

North West police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said police management was concerned after allegations surfaced of the alleged assault.

"According to information available at this stage, reports suggest that members conducted a safer school awareness, along with other stakeholders. Subsequently, some learners were taken to a separate classroom, where the alleged assault occurred," said Mokgwabone.
