Each tree grown by Eastern Cape nursery grower Nozibele Mphothulo, lovingly nurtured from a seed, has the potential to save a rare and endangered parrot in the forests around her home.

Mphothulo, affectionately known as "Mamma Evelyn", is one of the tree growers in Siyazama Nursery, an initiative established in 2017 to re-establish forests. The trees grown by the nursery help restore the habitat of the Cape Parrot, whose population has dwindled to less than 2 000.
