In a community where residents still rely on pit toilets, communal taps for running water and have to drive on gravel roads, Gabampone Mosime and her son, Oratile, say they hope President Cyril Ramaphosa will not use his latest presidential imbizo as a platform to persuade residents of the Northern Cape to support the ANC.

Instead, they anticipate that Ramaphosa's administration will fulfil its commitments by delivering services to needy communities.

The family – who live a short distance from the Batlharos Sports Ground where the imbizo will take place on Thursday, claims that some ANC leaders have promised them food if they attend the provincial community meeting.
