The South African Weather Service has warned of scattered showers and thundershowers in many regions that could result in localised flooding. 

Morning fog patches are expected in Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and parts of KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape. 

In the Western Cape, hot to very hot conditions are expected until Sunday.

Impact-based warnings

Yellow Level 1 warning: Disruptive rainfall leading to localised flooding of susceptible formal and informal settlements or roads, low-lying areas and bridges, as well as some major roads; increased travel times are expected over the eastern parts of the North West.

Yellow Level 2 warning: Disruptive rain resulting in localised flooding of settlements, roads and bridges is expected in places between Port Alfred and Port Edward in the Eastern Cape and the adjacent interior.

Yellow Level 1 warning: Damaging wind resulting in localised disruption to ports and harbours and difficulty in navigation at sea is expected in places between Mazeppa Bay and Port Edward.

In the colour-coded weather warning system, yellow indicates a moderate risk of impact that requires caution and awareness.

The weather service uses the numbers to indicate the likelihood of weather-based impacts occurring.

Advisories

Hot to very hot and uncomfortable conditions are expected over the interior of Namakwa, City of Cape Town, West Coast, and Cape Winelands districts in the Western Cape until Sunday.

Heatwave conditions are expected over Saldanha Bay, Swartland, and parts of the City of Cape Town municipality until Sunday.
