Bongani Ntanzi (left) at a court appearance in 2022. It is the State's case that Ntanzi allegedly made a confession about his involvement in the murder of Senzo Meyiwa.
Court records showed that Bongani Ntanzi was legally represented by Dominic Mjiyako in an unlawful possession of ammunition case – the same lawyer that Ntanzi claimed he did not know and was not present when he allegedly made a confession about his involvement in the murder of Senzo Meyiwa.
Ntanzi and his four co-accused are on trial in the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria for the murder of the former Bafana Bafana captain, who was shot and killed in Vosloorus on 26 October 2014.
For the last month, the court has been holding a trial-within-a-trial for the State and the defence to lead evidence on the admissibility of confession statements allegedly made by Ntanzi and Muzi Sibiya.
