"I don't know how to live without her. My heart is broken. She was my only child."

These were the mournful words of the mother of 19-month-old Skyler Salie, who allegedly fell inside an open gap on the corner of Voortrekker Road and 18th Avenue in Kensington on Saturday morning. 

It took rescue teams more than five hours to recover the toddler's body.
