A quick visit to a friend nearly cost Jacob Mokete his life after the police mistook him for a kidnapper and pumped his car full of bullets.

Mokete told News24, after he was shot at, he was assaulted and locked up for several hours before the police apologised and let him go.

The traumatised father of three became a suspect in the case of two kidnapped Brits teenagers - Zahraa Mohammed, 17, and Bataviya Mohammed, 19 - on the night of 25 March.
