Police Minister Bheki Cele slammed Western Cape judges, magistrates and the justice system at the funeral of a popular community safety volunteer.

"Judges and magistrates don't want to fight crime here. Then there's an issue of the police; last month here, we caught a person who murdered a police officer but the judge refused to enrol the case because they claimed that they were busy," he said.

Cele was speaking at the funeral of Gugulethu Community Policing Forum (CPF) deputy chairperson Lulama "Guffy" Dinginto at the Gugulethu sports complex.
