The leader of a zama zama gang allegedly behind the 2022 Soweto tavern massacre has been linked to the May murder of one of his lieutenants and is also being sought by the Lesotho Mounted Police Service for another massacre in the kingdom.
Tshepiso "Mosotho" Radebe is alleged to have orchestrated the murder of his lieutenant, Lepolesa Moshoeshoe – a former undercover Hawks officer who was out on R35 000 bail after he was arrested in connection with the 16 murders at the Mdlalose Tavern in Soweto.
Radebe, along with Sarel Lehlanya Sello, Thabang Radikatara, Tshidiso Moleko and Keletso Rabasotho had warrants issued against them in September 2022 in connection with the tavern massacre.
