The Department of Defence and Military Veterans will not pick up corruption-accused former Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula's legal tab for her corruption trial.
In April, Mapisa-Nqakula resigned hours before appearing in court on corruption charges.
The state alleges that, while Mapisa-Nqakula was defence minister, she solicited and received R2.5 million in bribes and gratifications from fraud-accused businesswoman Nombasa Ntsondwa-Ndhlovu, who was reportedly "gifted" R210 million in defence contracts.
