A team of detectives has been tasked with finding those responsible for kidnapping and killing young women in Bloemfontein, the Free State, Police Minister Bheki Cele said on Sunday.

During a media briefing in Pretoria, Cele added that gender-based violence and femicide-related crimes remained a priority for the police, and officers were urged to continue to improve their services to victims and survivors of these crimes.

"The SAPS and ministry remain deeply concerned about the number of women, children, and vulnerable groups who continue to lose their lives at the hands of callous criminals," he said.
