Bonke Makalala appeared in the Athlone Magistrate's Court in Cape Town.

The owner of Makalala Transport, Bonke Makalala, will remain behind bars after his appearance in the Athlone Magistrate's Court on Tuesday on charges of murder and attempted murder as well as illegal gun and ammunition possession.

Makalala, who hails from Tsomo in the Eastern Cape, was arrested in Pretoria nearly two weeks ago.

This after police officers, who were on his trail throughout the Eastern Cape, traced him to Pretoria as part of an investigation that began in 2018.
