Lauretta Yon, the grandmother of 6-year-old Joshlin Smith, says when she visited the child's mother, Kelly, at Pollsmoor Prison in Cape Town over a week ago, she begged her to tell the police and the court the truth about the child's whereabouts.

"I told her she must be honest because she could be locked up for a very long time. I believe her when she says she doesn't know where Joshlin is, but I don't believe some of the things she is saying," said Yon.

The heartbroken grandmother was speaking outside the Vredenburg Magistrate's Court on Monday, where Kelly, her partner Jacquen "Boeta" Appolis, Steveno van Rhyn and Lourentia Lombaard made another court appearance related to the disappearance of Joshlin.
