The first witness in the trial of Mark Lifman and others for the murder of "Steroid King" Brian Wainstein testified on Wednesday about a wild life of illegal steroid sales, intimidating people for a living, money drops, and protecting the wife of one of Cape Town's most feared businessmen while she went clubbing. 

In the dock of the Western Cape High Court was Lifman, alleged Sexy Boys gangster Jerome Booysen, security company boss Andre Naude, Sam Farquharson, police officer Wayne Henderson, Ricardo Maarman, Typhyenne Jantjies, Bevan Ezaus, Bradley De Bula, Kashief Hanslo, Rowendal Stevens, Ismail Cupido and Igor Russol. Norman Egan had a medical emergency on Tuesday night but should return on Monday.

The State alleges that Lifman and his associates used 27s gangsters from Kraaifontein to aggressively persuade nightclubs in Cape Town to switch security services from rival newcomer Nafiz Modack, who seemed to have snatched their business away from them, with the help of Booysen's brother Colin.
