A George family is trying to find out whether their loved one is in a mortuary or still under the rubble at Victoria Street, where the five-storey apartment building collapsed on Monday afternoon.
During a media briefing on Friday, Western Cape Local Government MEC Anton Bredell confirmed that 14 people had been declared dead, while 40 were rescued, and 39 were still unaccounted for.
Two bodies were pulled from the site on Friday morning.
