A law academic at the University of Cape Town (UCT) has been accused of setting an exam paper section that portrays "deeply offensive Islamophobic stereotypes and harmful rhetoric toward Muslim and Palestinian students".

An organisation calling itself UCT4Palestine is circulating a petition demanding that the university institute disciplinary action against Professor Anton Fagan, whom it claims used "racist propaganda material".

The "fact-set" or scenario in the paper starts with Ms Goldblum, a 71-year-old woman living in Sea Point, Cape Town, who goes to collect her granddaughter, Zintle, aged 7, from a Jewish primary school in Cape Town.
