Parts of the Northern Cape, Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga can expect severe thunderstorms resulting in excessive lightning and heavy downpours, according to the South African Weather Service.

Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms resulting in excessive lightning and heavy downpours expected over the southern high ground of Namakwa District of the Northern Cape, the Beaufort West and Prince Albert municipalities of the Western Cape, northern parts of the Eastern Cape, southern parts of the Free State, western parts of KwaZulu-Natal as well as the southern escarpment of Mpumalanga.
