The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned of a heatwave expected to hit parts of the Northern and Western Cape provinces.

Isolated thundershowers are forecast for at least five other provinces while cool and warm conditions are expected in the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Free State.

A heatwave with persistently high temperatures is expected over the Richtersveld Local Municipality in the Northern Cape and Matzikama Local Municipality in the Western Cape until Wednesday.

Very hot and uncomfortable conditions are expected over the West Coast district in the Western Cape and Kamiesberg local municipality Northern Cape until Wednesday.
