Scattered showers and thundershowers are expected in many regions, which could cause localised flooding, according to the South African Weather Service (SAWS).

Cloudy, cold, and widespread rain is expected in parts of the Eastern Cape.

Coastal winds along sections of the Western and Eastern Cape's coastal areas might disrupt marine activities and create hazardous conditions.

Impact-based warnings

Orange Level 5 warning: Disruptive rain leading to disruption of traffic, danger to life, flooding of settlements and roads, as well as the cutting-off of communities, is expected along the coast and adjacent interior between Port Alfred and Coffee Bay.

Yellow Level 2 warning: Disruptive rain leading to localised flooding of settlements, roads and bridges is expected in places along the east coast and adjacent interior of the Eastern Cape.

Yellow level 2 warning: Severe thunderstorms leading to localised damage to settlements over an open area as well as localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges are expected over the eastern and southern parts of Northern Cape as well as central and the western parts of Free State.

Yellow Level 2 warning: Coastal winds leading to difficulty in navigation at sea are expected between Cape Columbine and Cape Agulhas.

The weather in your province

Gauteng: Morning fog is expected in the southeast, making for reduced visibility. Otherwise, the day will be partly cloudy and cool with a chance of isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.

Mpumalanga: Conditions will be partly cloudy and range from cool to warm. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected in the south, while the Lowveld regions should brace for hot weather.

Limpopo: Limpopo will be partly cloudy and mostly warm, but certain areas in the Lowveld might experience hot temperatures.

North-West: Expect partly cloudy skies with temperatures ranging from cool to warm. Isolated showers and thundershowers can be expected, but in the extreme southwest, scattered showers and a cloudier atmosphere are predicted.

Free State: Morning fog patches may reduce visibility in the western and central sections, followed by cloudy and windy conditions. Scattered showers and thundershowers are anticipated across most of the province, though the northern areas will have isolated occurrences.

Northern Cape: Morning fog patches will appear in places in the southeast. The day will then transition to partly cloudy or cloudy conditions, with windy and cool-to-warm weather.

Isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers are expected, except in the northern areas. On the coast, light to moderate south-westerly winds will prevail.

Western Cape: The south coast will experience light rain in the morning. Partly cloudy and cool conditions dominate the region, with a chance of isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers inland.

Coastal winds will intensify towards evening, turning fresh to strong south-easterly along the west coast, while the south coast experiences moderate to fresh easterly winds.

Western half of the Eastern Cape: Prepare for a cold and cloudy day. Scattered showers and rain are forecast, which will become widespread in the southeast and central areas. Coastal winds will be moderate to fresh south-easterly, shifting to south-westerly in parts during the afternoon.

Eastern half of the Eastern Cape: A cold and cloudy day is expected here as well, with widespread showers and rain throughout the region. Coastal winds will initially be light and north-westerly near Coffee Bay but will turn moderate to fresh southerly and then south-westerly as the day progresses.

KwaZulu-Natal: The day will be mostly cloudy and cool, warm in the northeast. Expect scattered showers and thundershowers, though these will be isolated in the extreme north-east.

Coastal winds will shift from light and moderate north-easterly to fresh and strong south-westerly from the south in the afternoon, spreading northward later in the day.
