The South African Weather Service has warned of damaging waves in parts of the Western Cape, while most of the country will have partly cloudy conditions with isolated showers and thundershowers.

Impact-based warnings

A Yellow Level 2 warning of damaging waves resulting in difficulty in navigation at sea between Cape Columbine and Cape Agulhas has also been issued by the weather service. 

The weather in your area 

Gauteng will be fine and warm, becoming partly cloudy with isolated afternoon thundershowers. The expected UVB sunburn index is very high.

Morning fog is expected along the escarpment in Mpumalanga, otherwise it will be partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers, except in the Lowveld.

Limpopo will be partly cloudy and warm, while North West will be partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.

Free State will be partly cloudy and warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers.

Fine conditions are expected in the west of the Northern Cape, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the north-east and east. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate southerly to southeasterly, becoming strong in the afternoon.

Western Cape will be partly cloudy and cool to warm with a chance of light rain over the south-western parts of the Overberg in the morning. It will be fine and hot over the interior of the West Coast District.

The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly to southeasterly along the west and south-west coast, becoming strong in the afternoon. It will be fresh westerly to southwesterly along the south coast in the morning, becoming moderate in the late afternoon.

The western half of the Eastern Cape will be cool in places along the coast, otherwise cloudy and warm, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.

The eastern half of the province will be cool in places along the coast, otherwise partly cloudy and warm, becoming cloudy in the north with isolated thunderstorms. A chance of light rain is expected along the Wild Coast and adjacent interior in the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be moderate southwesterly.

KwaZulu-Natal will see morning fog over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers in the afternoon.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly to northeasterly, moderate to fresh southwesterly south of Durban towards midday, spreading to Richards Bay by the evening.
