Two pupils drowned during a school outing in Centurion on Monday (Supplied/City of Tshwane emergency services)

Two pupils drowned during a school excursion in Centurion on Monday afternoon, according to the City of Tshwane's emergency services department.

The boys, from Daveyton Skills School in Benoni, were in a man-made dam at a private camping site, near the Hennops River, said spokesperson Charles Mabaso.

They were between the ages of 13 and 16.
