Two people have died and multiple others injured after a motor vehicle collision on the N1 northern carriageway near the Old Johannesburg Road off-ramp.
Two people were killed in a vehicle collision on the N1 north highway near the Old Johannesburg Road off-ramp late on Saturday afternoon.
Emer-G-Med Paramedics spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said when they arrived on the scene, two vehicles were found to have collided before rolling down an embankment, leaving multiple people injured.
"The Emer-G-Med Emergency Operations Centre dispatched further resources, and an on-scene triage area was established."
"An elderly woman and a middle-aged male were found to have sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead on arrival of paramedics," Van Reenen said.

He added that a 70-year-old woman was found in critical condition, treated and stabilised on the scene, before being airlifted with the assistance of the Netcare 911 aeromedical helicopter to a specialist facility for the care that she required.
"Two other people were treated for moderate injuries and taken by ambulances to nearby hospitals for further care," said Van Reenen.
