Two men died and one was hospitalised after their rubber duck boat capsized at Saunders Rock Beach in Sea Point, Cape Town, on Thursday.

National Sea Rescue Institute spokesperson Craig Lambinon said rescue swimmers were able to reach the 29-year-old survivor and brought him to shore where he was transported to hospital in a critical condition.

"Emergency services and the Skymed helicopter also responded. One of the causalities was recovered from the water by a rescue swimmer and the NSRI Table Bay rescue craft, he was taken to the Three Anchor Bay slipway where CPR in progress was commenced by paramedics. Sadly, that man has been declared deceased," he said.
