At least 60 firefighters are battling a blaze on Table Mountain. (Kate Henry, News24)
With 100 firefighters, water-bombing helicopters and a spotter plane, the fire on Table Mountain was put out within hours on Sunday, leaving about five hectares of veld damaged.
The blaze started around 13:00. At the time, the city's fire and rescue services said a large area of vegetation was alight along the lower slopes of Tafelberg Road and Deer Park Drive.
"The fire was contained at 15.38 this afternoon," said Table Mountain National Park spokesperson Lauren Howard.
