The ANC will win elections outright in Gauteng, and anyone who says the party will drop its support below 50% is "dreaming".

These were some of the claims made by ANC leaders at a party gathering in Soweto on Saturday.

The ANC leaders, including secretary-general Fikile Mbalula, made the bold claim even though residents of Gauteng rejected the party at the 2021 local elections. This led to the governing party sharing power in numerous municipalities – including the City of Johannesburg.
