Thundershowers are forecast for most parts of the country, while a heatwave with hot and uncomfortable conditions persists in the Eastern Cape, according to the South African Weather Service (SAWS).
The province may also expect severe thunderstorms which may lead to localised flooding.
Impact-based warnings
Yellow level 2 warning: Severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours leading to localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges as well as damaging winds, excessive lightning and hail resulting in damage to infrastructure and settlements is expected in places over Eastern Cape, except along the coast, west of East London.
In the SAWS’s colour-coded weather warning system, yellow indicates a moderate risk of impact that requires caution and awareness, while orange indicates that higher-risk impact is expected, requiring increased attention and preparation.
The SAWS uses the numbers to indicate the likelihood of weather-based impacts occurring. Levels 2 and 6 are high, and level 4 is low.
