The DA and ANC got the most donations, follow by Action SA.
The vast majority of declared donations to political parties in the past year came from a handful of donors, and three parties benefitted far more than all the others combined.
Furthermore, businesses tend to favour opposition parties, while the governing ANC could bank on a Trust and investment company with close links to it.
Cumulatively, in the first two quarters of the 2023/24 financial year, more than R102 million was donated to political parties, according to My Vote Counts' dashboard.
