Firefighters are still battling a blaze in Wolseley in the Western Cape. The fire has been raging since Monday afternoon and is still burning out of control in inaccessible mountain areas.
The flames have been exacerbated by hot, windy conditions, while firefighters have had to contend with dense smoke and uneven terrain.
Cape Winelands District Municipality spokesperson Jo-Anne Otto said efforts on Tuesday night had "brought a few wins in some areas", but firefighters had lost some ground in other areas.
