MK Party leader Jacob Zuma's legal team asked the Constitutional Court for an extension to allow them to file answering papers opposing the Electoral Commission of SA's (IEC) appeal against an Electoral Court decision relating to the former president's participation in the elections.

In a letter addressed to "Honourable Deputy Chief Justice" Mandisa Maya, dated 24 April, Zungu Incorporated asked the apex court to extend the deadline to 30 April 2024. 

"In the present circumstances, it is practically impossible to comply with the directive to furnish any meaningful answering affidavit(s) in the next 24 hours or so.
