A Nigerian Canada-based singer and songwriter, Ayodeji Mubarak, popularly known as TheHonestGuy, has made history by winning a coveted award at the Juno Awards, Canada’s most prestigious music honors.

PUNCH Online reports that the 54th Annual Juno Awards took place on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia.

At the awards ceremony, Mubarak won the Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year category.

Known for his soulful sound and musical excellence, TheHonestGuy’s recognition in the R&B category further cements his place as one of the most promising voices in contemporary music.

Rising star Nemahsis was honored with a win for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. The Palestinian-Canadian singer has gained widespread recognition for her deeply personal and emotionally charged music, performing her single “Stick of Gum” during the broadcast.

Bbno$ took home the TikTok JUNO Fan Choice Award, a category voted on by fans.

Canadian rock band Sum 41 was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, Anne Murray received the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Boi-1da received the award for International Achievement.
