Real Madrid forward Rodrygo is looking ahead with optimism after undergoing a successful right knee surgery on Tuesday in Madrid.
The Brazil international tore his anterior cruciate ligament and his external meniscus during Madrid's 1-0 defeat to Getafe on March 2.
Rodrygo will miss the remainder of the season and will also be unavailable for the World Cup, with the tournament due to begin on June 11.
"Our player Rodrygo has successfully undergone surgery for the ruptures of the anterior cruciate ligament and the external meniscus of his right leg," Real Madrid confirmed in a short statement.
"The operation was performed by Dr. Manuel Leyes under the supervision of the Real Madrid Medical Services.
"Rodrygo will begin his rehabilitation work in the coming days."
Rodrygo, 25, is expected to be sidelined for eight months.
The former Santos player posted a photograph on Instagram where he is seen smiling and giving a thumbs up from his hospital bed.
