Tottenham Hotspur had a bid for England defender Marc Guéhi rejected by Crystal Palace last weekend, a source has told ESPN.
Spurs made an offer for the 24-year-old -- who is considered a long-term target -- which was quickly dismissed and are yet to return with an improved bid ahead of tonight's deadline.
Another source close to the player has told ESPN that a deadline day deal is unlikely and the situation will be reviewed in the summer, when Guéhi will have just one year remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park.
However, Guéhi is unlikely to sign a new deal and it remains to be seen whether they test Palace's resolve to keep the centre-back as Spurs look to bolster their options following the arrival of Kevin Danso from Lens.
Danso joined the club on an initial loan with an obligation to make the deal permanent for €25 million ($25.6m), when he will sign a five-year contract.
ESPN revealed earlier on Monday that Spurs had ended their interest in Chelsea centre-back Axel Disasi, who would prefer a move to Aston Villa.
