“Yemi Alade, you are a queen; the queen you think you are,” Agu said in a video he shared on Instagram on Tuesday.

“She may not have won the Grammy, but she clearly won my heart. If there is nobody to say it, I chief Chiwetalu will give you your flowers while you can still smell them,” he added.

He added that her decision to wear traditional African attire underscored her pride in her heritage saying, “Not only did she represent Afrobeat, she also represented the African culture through her attire at the Grammy Awards. She was not there to impress anyone. Her outfit was screaming, ‘I did not come to impress you. I know my roots.'”

The actor further lauded the ‘Johnny’ crooner for her remarkable qualities beyond her music saying, “Do we talk about how decent and natural she has been as an artist? Or beautiful she is as a woman or how talented, disciplined, reserved, established and humble she is as a lady?

“Yemi keep on being the role model you are to so many young girls. Chief Chiwetalu admires and loves you so much. I pray you find your ‘Johnny’ at the right time.”

In response to the video, Alade expressed her gratitude writing, “I’m not gonna lie. Someone is cutting one full bag of onions. God bless you sir.”
