Watch: Elephants escape floodwaters in Thailand

Video released by The Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, Thailand, shows four elephants wading through flood waters as staff work to evacuate the animals to higher ground.

Park founder Saengduean Chailert, said the elephant that trailed behind the others is blind which is why it moved slowly.

The sanctuary was impacted by flash flooding on 3 October, after heavy downpours in upstream areas caused the Mae Taeng River to rapidly rise.

Staff told the BBC on Friday the sanctuary has 126 elephants, nine are stuck on the far side of the park, but all are safe.
